Sanan OptoElectronics `boosts HB-LEDs production`
Sanan OptoElectronics is to expand its manufacturing capacity of high brightness light emitting diodes (HB-LEDs).
The Chinese company will use Veeco Instruments TurboDisc Metal Organic Chemical Vapor Deposition (MOCVD) Systems to achieve their new targets.
According to Veeco, the technology delivers one of the highest throughput available for the production of GaN-based blue and green HB-LEDs in large quantities.
Simon Lin, chief executive officer of Sanan, explained the company was seeing a high demand for LEDs in applications such as outdoor displays and TV backlight.
"The addition of Veeco s high productivity MOCVD systems to our manufacturing facilities … ensures that we can continue to increase output of our market-leading HB-LEDs," he said.
Meanwhile, Veeco Instruments yesterday (October 26th) announced it would be offering up to 5,000,000 shares of its common stock to the public.
The deal includes an option for underwriters to acquire up to 750,000 additional shares to cover overallotments.
